Tudor House is a supported housing project for young people aged 16-25. We support our clients with a wide range of needs with the aim that they will leave feeling more confident and able to manage their own accommodation.
Tudor House is staffed Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm and we aim to support people to move on to more independent accommodation within 6-12 months.
The support we provide
We can support 16-25 year olds with low/medium support needs who need somewhere to live.
We offer a low/medium level of support and this can cover a wide range of areas including housing, budgeting, applying for grants/benefits, support to engage with families/friends, support to access health services, support to access substance misuse services and support to look for employment, education or training.
All clients at Tudor House have a key-worker who works with them on a 1:1 basis, normally weekly, although this could be more or less often depending on the clients’ needs.
We also run group sessions which we tailor to the needs of our client group. These could include cooking, CV workshops or budgeting workshops. Clients can also be referred into Skills for Life which is run under the Support Alliance and contains six modules designed to prepare people to manage their own tenancy.
Residents normally stay at Tudor House between 6-12 months however. In some circumstances residents may stay up to two years but there would probably be a discussion about why the support needed to continue past 12 months with our funders at Supporting People (North Somerset Council).
We can accommodate six young people at Tudor House.
We have five rooms in the main house which are all ensuite and have their own kitchen facilities.
We also have a one bedroom flat with its own entrance which is fully accessible for physically disabled residents.
All rooms are furnished with a bed and storage facilities and we are currently able to provide a welcome pack for residents which is funded by the Portishead Nautical Trust. This contains bedding, crockery, cutlery, saucepans, towels and a kettle.
This is a great place to live because....
We are a small and friendly project in a quiet residential area of Nailsea.
We are the only project in North Somerset for Young People which is outside Weston and this is ideal for residents who have a support network in this area or who need to be nearer to Bristol for work.
We have a fully accessible one bedroom flat on site which can be used for physically disabled clients, for couples, single parents or as a move-on option from the main house.
We work really hard with our young people to find solutions for them and to help them on their way to living independently.
The Support Alliance/Elim staff who run Skills for Life also operate out of the Tudor House office and this makes this brilliant service very easily accessible to our residents.
How to apply
We take all our referrals through the North Somerset Gateway system. The majority of these come straight from the Housing Advice Team who can be accessed via a drop-in system at the Town Hall in Weston-Super-Mare. There are a small number of other agencies who can refer on the Gateway.
If you are unable to get to Weston-Super-Mare for a legitimate reason you may be able to come into Tudor House to be put on the Gateway by our team but we would need to liaise with the housing team about this.
