Ever thought you’d like to help out in your local community, meet new people or simply want to experience that great feeling of achievement? Then volunteering could be just for you! It can also help you to get back into work and maybe even help you take the next step in your career.
Whatever your motivation, volunteering gives you a great chance to learn new skills, share existing skills with others and enjoy those experiences together. Volunteering for Elim Housing is especially rewarding because of the client group we support; The work we and our volunteers do makes a genuine difference to our clients’ lives.
We truly value your contribution to the communities we work in. We try to offer you a wide range of opportunities, and work to make them fit with you and your lifestyle. You will receive appropriate support and training from us and in return we ask for your commitment so we can deliver what we agree at the beginning and so our clients don't get let down.
You don't need qualifications or previous experience of this kind of work to volunteer for Elim Housing Association. All you need is the willingness to help and a little time.
As part of your application to volunteer for Elim, we have to do a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formally known as Criminal Records Bureau check). Having a criminal record will not automatically disqualify someone from volunteering with us. We will also need 2 references. This is for the protection of the clients we support.
Everyone gets something from volunteering.
For you, it may be the satisfaction from giving back, enjoyment you get from sharing your knowledge, skills and experience with others or gaining valuable experience to help your confidence, increase your skills and maybe even find employment.
For us, having volunteers means we can deliver even better service to our clients. We do not ask volunteers to do the job of our staff but to add even more value to the work we do which helps to improve quality of life for our clients.
You will also receive ongoing support and an unlimited access to our e-learning platform where you can improve your skills and learn new things flexibly and in the comfort of your home if you like.
Whatever the reason you decide to volunteer, your time and contribution is appreciated by both our clients and our staff.
