Coffee & catch-up resident event, Bristol

On Thursday 3rd October we invited residents from Padfield Gardens and Redcatch Road in Bristol to join us for coffee and cake in the local Baptist Church.

The event was attended by Housing Officer, Niall, and Resident Engagement Officer, Georgie. We were joined by 3 residents. The event provided an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide feedback about the services they receive and for us to see where any improvements could be made in relation to shared areas.

  • One resident pointed out that the bike store was not being utilised and that it contained abandoned bikes. As a result of this, we will be asking all residents to place a sticker on their bike (provided by Elim). Any bikes without stickers and any additional items will be removed by Monday 25th.
  • All residents raised that communal areas are not being maintained to the standard we expect. We will be looking at our current maintenance contract to reassess if enough time is being spent at each property and if the visits are frequent enough.
  • Residents raised concerns that recycling isn’t being sorted correctly and that there are items in the communal bin room that should not be there, left by other occupants. We will be putting up information signage to make it clear which items can and can’t be recycled. Further information will be provided to all residents on where to dispose of larger items locally, and about organising council collection.
  • One resident raised a maintenance issue which is beginning to cause damp and mould in their property. This has now been reported to our maintenance team to organise an inspection and carry out any necessary works. The team also gave residents a reminder on how to report a repair or maintenance issue.

Thank you to all residents that attended the meeting and estate walkabout last week. For those that were unable to attend, please do let us know what would make it easier for you to attend next time and if you have any suggestions for future events in your area, please contact Georgie, our Customer Engagement Officer at g.gigg@elimhousing.co.uk.
