Elim recently welcomed Paula O'Rourke , Bristol Lord Mayor to our Rosemeadow View Gypsy and Traveller site in the City. Managed on behalf of Bristol City Council, the site offers 12 pitches for the community.
The visit marked an important milestone for Elim in it’s work in gaining wider awareness in the importance of creating and maintaining safe and inclusive spaces for the Gypsy and Traveller community.
Elim colleagues and Board member led the visit which gave the Bristol Lord Mayor the opportunity to meet residents, hear their stories and discuss local issues.
Residents were able to share their views over the need for an increase in local provisions and services aimed at the community, as well as the importance of creating more safe spaces for Gypsy and Travellers in Bristol. Residents enjoyed speaking to The Lord Mayor and Elim colleagues about their individual circumstances and families, sharing their rich and diverse history.
Sally Mason, Chair of Elim Board said: “We were delighted to welcome The Bristol Lord Mayor to Rosemeadow and would like to thank her for taking the time to visit our residents and provide them with the opportunity to share their thoughts. Elim Housing are proud to support the Gypsy and Traveller Community in the region and it was a fantastic opportunity for our residents to feedback.”
Paul Smith, Chief Executive: “As social landlords we invest every day supporting people, improving outcomes for residents and tackling inequalities. Our partnership with Bristol City Council delivering the support at our Gypsy and Traveller sites demonstrates that we know that by working together we can achieve so much more.
We were pleased to be able to offer the Bristol Lord Mayor a warm welcome, to see her real interest in this community and we hope the visit reinforces our commitment to specialist services in the city.”
Elim is proud to be one of the largest providers of Gypsy and Traveller sites in the UK. We recognise the importance of the specialist services we offer and maintain a firm commitment to growing this aspect of our organisation.
