Pride Month Celebrations

Elim is proud to join this 51st annual Pride Month celebration and to add our voice to the many other Housing Associations and charitable organisations from our sector who are proactively offering support and vital services for LGBTQ+ people in housing need.

During 2022, one in five LGBTQ+ people experienced a hate crime because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Statistically, LGBTQ+ people are also more likely to experience homelessness, and research from Stonewall shows that almost one in five LGBT people have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives.

As part of Elim’s approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, we will always play our part to address structural and cultural inequality, to be a contributory force for continuing change and to do our best to have a positive impact through our relationships with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders including our contractors and commissioners.

This June, many of our support schemes will be taking part in various activities to acknowledge, celebrate and raise awareness of Pride Month in their own way.

Join Us at Pride!

We will be attending Bristol Pride for the second year running, celebrating diversity, inclusivity, individuality, respect and unity not just across Elim, but across our communities. We also hope to be present at Gloucester Pride, later in the year.

Last year, Pride gave us the opportunity to network and make genuine connections with some of the 40,000+ people who attended the 2022 event, including new and existing external agencies, community ambassadors, and local residents. From our stall in the Community Tent, we were able to show our support for the LGBTQ community, but we could also provide answers to two frequent questions: Who is Elim and what do you do? With our six ambassadors on hand to talk about the services we offer, we were able to respond to questions about housing need, promote our organisation and our values and enjoy being a part of this hugely important community event.
