Supporting Bristol Housing Festival’s ‘Homes at the Heart’ campaign last week, Elim CEO Paul Smith joined other industry experts to discuss the role of Social Housing during COVID-19 and the need for innovation in the sector during the virtual event. Here’s what Paul Smith had to say about Bristol’s changing landscape;
“It was great for Elim to be part of the Bristol Housing Festival which is looking at increasing the use of new technologies in housing construction and also trialling new approaches to community support. I wanted to highlight the increased pressure on homes to form so many functions in the Covid-19 and hopefully Post-Covid world, including their use as workplaces, schools and places for care. Also the importance of access to good quality, green, public space due to its impact on our wellbeing and mental resilience”
The city-wide conversation resonated with Elim’s own vision ‘To meet housing need and deliver homes that change people’s lives.’ by helping our residents achieve their Best Move. We aim to do this by focussing on the following;
▪ All residents living in an Elim home will be connected to Your Best Move, and we will facilitate progress towards their aspirations.
▪ Our Support Services will grow in order to deliver more accommodation and support to address homelessness and meet the housing-related needs of vulnerable people facing recovery, ill- health or social exclusion.
▪ We will increase the size of Elim Housing’s rented and shared ownership property portfolio by 7% by 2025.
