White Ribbon is a leading UK charity working to end violence towards women and girls by exploring the root causes and challenging attitudes around masculinity which perpetrate inequality and violence, the leading causes of violence towards women and girls.
This year’s theme ‘It Starts With Men’, aims to address the attitudes and beliefs that contribute to a fear of violence for women in their day-to-day lives. By encouraging accountability, we can affect positive behaviour change to transform harmful cultures.
According to White Ribbon UK, almost 1 in 3 women aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime and two women a week are killed by a current or former partner in England and Wales alone.
To further our learning, we have invited domestic abuse campaigner Vicki from White Ribbon to talk to Elim colleagues this week about understanding the impact domestic abuse has, how to access support, the importance of allyship and empowering employees to take meaningful action to allow us to better support our peers and customers.
Getting support from Elim
Our first aim is always to minimise any risk of harm to customers (and their children) reporting domestic violence and abuse. If you are experiencing domestic abuse, or are worried about a neighbour or other Elim resident, please contact us. We are here to listen and support you and will work with other agencies and professionals to help keep you safe.
