Elim Housing are proud to support the Gypsy and Traveller Community in the region. We currently manage South West Traveller Sites in North and South Somerset, Bath, Bristol, Gloucestershire and Devon.
A Manager and two Site Officers support our Gypsy and Traveller residents to ensure they pay their rent, receive any help they're entitled to, and any maintenance is completed in a timely fashion and to a satisfactory standard.
We work closely with other organisations including Julian House, Support Alliance, NHS, SARI and Citizens Advice, as well as local councils and local support groups, to provide the best possible service to our residents.
All residential pitches are allocated by the relevant local councils on a basis similar to the Homechoice system. You must apply to the council to register your interest and be placed on the waiting list. When a vacancy occurs, the council will check their records and rank any applicants in order of priority. The top person on the list will be offered the pitch subject to relevant checks.
Elim Housing Association holds the waiting list for the 5 transit pitches on the site at Carrswood View, Bath. Applications can be made direct to us on 01454 411172.
Built in 2015 and located on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath, this site has 8 permanent pitches occupied predominantly by New Travellers. The site also has 5 transit pitches. This 24 pitch site was completed in 2015. Residents are a mixture of English, Irish, Romany and New Travellers. It is located just off the Winterstoke Road and allocations are made by North Somerset Council. There are 3 sizes of pitch (small, medium and large) and 3 rent brackets accordingly. Located in Moor Lane, this is a small, 7 pitch site we manage on behalf of North Somerset Council, along with 3 other single pitches which are spread across North Somerset. The residents have lived on the site for many years, and vacancies are very rare.
Located off South Liberty Lane in Bristol, we have managed this 12 pitch site on behalf of Bristol City Council, who are responsible for pitch allocation, since January 2016.
Since November 2016, we have managed an 8 pitch site at Tintinhull and a 6 pitch site at Ilton on behalf of South Somerset District Council, who are responsible for pitch allocation. We also manage a single pitch at Pitney on their behalf.
In January 2018, we began managing 2 sites near Exeter on behalf of Devon County Council. There is an 11 pitch site at Sowton and a 5 pitch site at Broadclyst. The council remains responsible for allocations.
