2023 signals a hugely exciting time in our history as we celebrate our 60th anniversary!

From our small beginnings in 1963 when Elim Housing Association began with just a few founding members, a passion to tackle housing need and no properties. Fast forward to today and we now employ 64 colleagues and provide accommodation to over 300 individuals each year within our supported housing schemes.

To commemorate Elim Housing Association’s 60th Anniversary, we will be celebrating throughout the year sharing our past and present customers stories to reflect on how our services can serve as a platform for growth and our Colleagues and Board members will be volunteering in the local community, making sure our impact is felt in the areas we serve.

Partner organisation representatives will be invited to mark the milestone with us at various Elim support schemes where we will be undertaking a green project themed around urban orchards which includes the planting of 60 trees. This will include community fruit orchards in some of our larger communal green spaces, enabling our customers to enjoy the space to it’s fullest for years to come.

In paying tribute to the Association Elim Group Chief Executive, Paul Smith said: “Like many housing associations Elim started as an idea and a desire to make a positive impact. A few people giving up some of their time meeting together with no idea whether or not their hopes would become homes. The association has developed as an organisation which meets the housing need of some of the most marginalised communities, filling the gaps left in the provision of mainstream housing providers. I’m sure our founders would be proud of the organisation Elim has become.”

60 years on, we remain true to our values, continuing our mission to increase social housing supply. We continue to be one of the UK's largest providers of Gypsy and Traveller sites, and are proud to add value in the areas we serve, delivering homes and specialist services that may be otherwise overlooked, due to scale or complexity, by other housing providers.

Now more than ever it is important for us to embrace change to continue thriving. Our 2023 – 2028 Corporate Plan reflects this and supports our vision to meet housing need and deliver homes that change people’s lives. Over the next 5 years Elim will continue to evolve, challenge and grow. We will increase the number and quality of the homes and services we offer, and we will do this by working with a diversity of customers, colleagues and other stakeholders to provide affordable homes that meet customers’ needs.
