Specialist housing scheme approved for Bishops Cleeve

Planning permission has been successfully granted for a new specialised supported housing scheme in Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire, which will be fully funded by NHSE.

The scheme will provide high-quality bespoke accommodation for 2 individuals with a learning disability and/or autism currently living in hospital or unsuitable accommodation

The proposed development involves the purchase of an open market property, which will be adapted into at least two fully self-contained, ground-floor flats. These flats will offer high levels of accessibility and comfort, with additional space provided for on-site support staff, ensuring 24/7 person-centred care.  

Individually commissioned support will be designed to meet the specific needs of each resident, promoting improved health and wellbeing. This approach will facilitate hospital discharge by ensuring people are appropriately supported in their own homes, achieving a clear separation between care and housing, an approach we've previously found to be effective.

The project team is working towards a target completion date of March 2026, subject to acquisition and the commencement of construction works.
